Eversolo DMP-A6, an extraordinary hi-fi streamer

On our blog, we have already covered some references in the hi-fi audio field in the past. This time, we are going to talk about a rather extraordinary product, the Eversolo DMP-A6. Discovering the world of hi-fi and audio streamers in general.

Can you hear me loud and clear… or is it falling flat?

What is an audio streamer? It is a device that lets you play music from a digital source (computer, smartphone, NAS, etc.) to an audio system (amplifier, speakers, headphones, etc.). The streamer connects to the source over a local network (wired or Wi-Fi) or over the Internet (streaming services such as Spotify, Deezer, Qobuz, etc.). The streamer receives the digital signal and converts it into an analogue signal using a digital-to-analogue converter (DAC). The streamer can also benefit from a high-precision internal clock to reduce jitter, i.e. the fluctuations in the digital stream that can affect sound quality. Depending on the streamer’s components, the quality of reproduction will vary… and so will the price. It is not unusual to see products reaching several hundred or even several thousand francs. With the Eversolo DMP-A6, we are dealing with something entirely reasonable. Let’s take a closer look at the “beast”.

The Eversolo DMP-A6 is a high-end audio streamer that delivers exceptional performance. It has an audiophile-quality DAC capable of handling the most demanding digital audio formats, such as DSD (up to 11.2 MHz), PCM (up to 32 bit/768 kHz) or MQA (Master Quality Authenticated). The Eversolo DMP-A6 can play files stored on a USB stick, an external hard drive, a NAS or a computer, but can also access online streaming services such as Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon Music HD or Spotify Connect. It can also receive music wirelessly via Bluetooth aptX HD, AirPlay or Chromecast. The device is Roon-compatible, which is no small thing. The Eversolo DMP-A6 has an RCA or XLR analogue output, as well as a coaxial or optical digital output, which allows it to connect to any audio system. It also has a headphone output with dedicated amplification, for enjoying high-quality private listening. The device is equipped with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 processor and a 6-inch colour LCD touchscreen for easy control. Based on Android 11, the system has been heavily customised and offers a smooth user experience. Eversolo’s EOS audio engine manages to largely bypass SRC restrictions to deliver a high-quality audio experience.

To give you a first idea, here is an unboxing and an initial overview:

As you can see, it is also possible to access a rather impressive range of services, even if for the moment some of them are still under development for Eversolo (notably Plex or Emby Audio access).

Here is a more in-depth review video by “LaTV d’Eric” of the product and of an edition with higher-end components:

During our test, we paired it with an audio amplifier and a headphone amplifier, using the connection options mentioned earlier in our article. The sound reproduction quality, both through speakers and headphones, was excellent.

In short… does it sound good?

The Eversolo DMP-A6 is an audio streamer that combines elegant design, comprehensive features and remarkable sound performance. It is ideal for demanding music lovers who want to enjoy their music in all its splendour.
