Mobility: a few accessories for getting around connected and safely
· Michel Aguilera

We are now going to look at a few accessories that enhance the use of urban vehicles, such as electric scooters, for greater safety and flexibility. A look at some new gadgets for people who need to get moving!
Ride on… safely!
Before saying anything about electric scooters, it is important to recall the regulations surrounding this type of vehicle. To do so, you can find the relevant information on the TCS website at this address. Don’t forget that regulations may vary from region to region or country to country, depending on use in urban areas. We will start with an overview of 2 types of protection: helmets. An essential accessory that must never be neglected. Indeed, some scooters can go very fast and it is important to protect yourself, just as when you ride a bicycle or a motorbike. With this in mind, here are 2 options. The first one, the Lumos.

As you can see in the illustration, this helmet is fitted with LED lights at the front and at the back. Using a small Bluetooth remote control that can be attached to the handlebars, it lets you signal whether you are about to turn right or left, and it can even detect when you brake. The front light also makes you visible to other road users ahead of you (handy when the scooter or bike has no built-in lighting). Charging is done with a USB cable with a proprietary connector. There are various models to meet different expectations (with colour options, MIPS protection). The helmet can also be controlled and configured via a mobile app (available on iOS and Android). Along the same lines, here is a competitor, the Livall Bling BH60SE.

This helmet offers some very interesting options, for an experience that is both completely safe and fully connected. Product video:
Now let’s talk about connectivity. Although it may seem trivial, some accessories can bring real added value when using soft mobility. One example is the following product: SmartHalo.

It is a multi-function system that attaches to the centre of your handlebars and provides several very useful options for your bike or scooter. A short introductory video:
As you can see, this product is quite interesting. It has been widely acclaimed and the 2nd generation is already available for pre-order: the SmartHalo 2. GPS, anti-theft, built-in headlight and more—it will add some very practical features.
When travelling, what can sometimes be difficult is having everything you need at hand. And a backpack is not always the solution. So here is an answer that can come in handy: a bag that attaches to your scooter!

Practical and semi-rigid, this bag lets you carry whatever you want without cluttering your backpack.

Cool, isn’t it?
In short… get moving!
Soft mobility, or alternatives to traditional vehicles, is taking over urban travel. These e-bikes and scooters (electric or not) are establishing themselves as a complement to public transport in big cities. Having been a fan of this kind of solution for a few years now, I have found being able to add useful accessories a great pleasure, but also genuinely useful, especially in terms of safety. I hope these few ideas have inspired you. If you come across other accessories that are worth it, please let me know in your comments.
