Home automation: Rituals The Perfume Genie
· Michel Aguilera

With all the possibilities for connecting devices in the home, there is one category that proves interesting for influencing the scent atmosphere of your home. A discovery of a connected diffuser from Rituals Cosmetics, the Perfume Genie. An innovative experience… full of scents.
Like a breath… of peace!
The result of a unique development, this Wi-Fi connected diffuser lets you diffuse a variety of scents according to a schedule, or even when triggered from the app. A series of fragrances is available, with cartridges that can be changed (a cartridge lasts about 270 hours, depending on how intensely it is used and the amount of fragrance you want).

The app, available on Google Play or the App Store for iOS, lets you configure the device, connect it to your Wi-Fi network and control it. You will need to create an account with Rituals Cosmetics, which will also make it easier to order replacement cartridges online or to discover new scents.
The device is made of metal, with a weight that keeps it steady on its base wherever you place it. Its design is reminiscent of Aladdin’s famous lamp from the tales of the Thousand and One Nights. With its neat, understated look, it will fit into any type of interior, with a pleasing decorative effect.
In my previous article on the Homey home automation controller, I noticed that an app is available to include the diffuser in automation scenarios. I invite you to take a look at the link here.
To get an idea of the product, here is the official video from Rituals Cosmetics:
And here is my own unboxing, with the same setup steps described in the official video:
As you can see in this unboxing, we are dealing with a home automation device that, despite everything, remains fairly simple to configure.
In short, does it smell good?
Neat packaging, a cutting-edge connected system: the Genie diffuser keeps its promises. A reasonable cost for this kind of device, and you can still use it without the connected mode, although it then loses its appeal compared with other traditional diffusers on the market.
